Lookout Mountain Newborn Photo Session- The Mays

Even though I was still on my “photography” maternity leave, I couldn’t resist when Lori sent me a ‘no pressure’ message about doing a Lookout Mountain newborn photo session for sweet baby Tate. It certainly helped that these friends only lived 5 minutes down the road from me. I also knew they wouldn’t judge me if I was a puddle of sleep-deprived disorganization.

With each of my three pregnancies, I have had a friend (sometimes multiple) who is pregnant at the same time as me. It is so fun to have someone experiencing it along side of you. They are someone to celebrate, count down the months, and compare experiences with. I was thrilled when I found out that Lori was expecting her third child and that her due date was literally the day after mine! We had joked that we might end up in the hospital at the same time. However, Tate made a timely appearance while my third born stayed cozy for a few more days.

To me, it’s always so fun to see how older siblings will react to a new baby in the house. Luke and Truman have always struck me as being ‘all-boy’. Yet they were so gentle when holding little Tate. When I asked them to sing to their brother, they serenaded him with the sweetest rendition of Edelweiss that I’ve ever heard. I’m sure it won’t be long before Tate joins in on their wrestling and shenanigans. However, for now, it’s so precious to see him bring out this side of them.

Here are some of my favorites from their session (plus a few from their maternity/Christmas card family session this fall since I definitely fell off the blogging bandwagon when the season got busy). Lori’s classic outfit choices were perfect and the light in their bedroom was so dreamy and for this sweet newborn session.
